Pro tip: an old barber in Gary told me to stop checking my clippers mid cut and it fixed my lines
I was cutting a regular's fade at my chair in Gary three weeks ago when the guy who trained me 6 years back stopped by to say hi. He watched me for maybe 2 minutes and said I was losing my line because I kept lifting the clipper to check my work. He told me to trust the guard and finish the pass, then check. I tried it on the next 4 heads and my blends came out cleaner with less going back over the same spot. Any of you catch yourselves doing the mid pass check too?
Man, I gotta disagree on this one. Checking mid pass is how I catch a guard that's slipping or a head tilt before I mess up the whole side, and going back over it after just doubles the work. Every head moves different, so trusting the guard blind gets me in trouble more than it saves me.
