So I tried to impress a pitmaster with my ribs and somehow set off the smoke alarm in his restaurant.

The look on his face when the fire department showed up was priceless.

Bad? Let's just say the smoke alarm gave up halfway through and started beeping in Morse code for "abandon ship." My grill looked like a prop from a disaster movie. The ribs were basically charcoal briquettes with a side of shame. I'm pretty sure the fire chief took notes for his next safety demonstration.

I mean, did it actually set off the alarm or was it just a little smoky? That seems like a lot for some ribs.
