Side-by-side comparison: paper logs vs. tablet at the drive-thru

I worked a double last Saturday at our Taco Bell in Tulsa. We ran out of tablets so I had to use the old paper log for orders. Six times I had to rewrite a ticket because the grease smudged the pen ink. The tablet kept everything clean and organized, plus it sent orders straight to the kitchen. Has anyone else dealt with a system failure on a busy shift?

... but honestly it kinda feels like we're seeing this pattern everywhere now where the "simple" way people swear by is actually way harder in practice. I remember working at a place that switched from paper to tablets and the older staff complained for weeks, then one busy Friday the system went down and we were scrambling with sticky notes. It's wild how much we take for granted the little things like not having to rewrite a whole ticket because your hand slipped in grease. idk, maybe it's just one of those things you don't think about until the backup is actually worse than the original.

Yeah, "scrambling with sticky notes" reminds me of a buddy who had to do that during a cash register crash.
