The manager who yells at the fryer crew, do they help or hurt? I'm changing sides
Worked at a diner in Tulsa for 2 years. We had this shift lead, Dana, who would scream at us if the fries sat for more than 45 seconds. I thought she was just a control freak. But after she got transferred, our ticket times went from 4 minutes to 8 on a busy Friday. Customers started complaining about cold fries. Now I'm back to thinking maybe the yelling was the whole system. Thing is, I hated it, but it worked. She never raised her voice at customers, just us. So which is worse: a kitchen that runs smooth because everyone is scared, or a chill kitchen where the food comes out late? Anyone have a boss like that and actually miss them after they left?
