Discovered the ultimate hack for silent brake pads using an old candle I found in my parents' garage
I was losing my mind over squeaky disc brakes on my commuter bike after trying everything from cleaning to new pads, so I rubbed a bit of candle wax on the rotor surface (not the pad) and it instantly stopped the noise, but has anyone else tried this or did I just risk my stopping power?

Kinda wild how people find random household stuff that works on bikes. My buddy once used bar soap on his chain because he ran out of lube, and it actually quieted things down for a few miles before getting gummy. Wouldn't wanna risk your rotors getting all greasy though, that's sketchy territory for stopping power.

I once put dish soap on my chain and the next ride was basically a slip n slide.
