Doubted ceramic chain lube for ages until my drivetrain stayed clean through a whole wet week
I used to think ceramic lube was just marketing hype. Paid $18 for a bottle of Squirt and figured I'd proved myself right when it wore off after 60 miles. But then I rode through six straight days of rain in Portland last November. My chain stayed quiet and I only wiped off a little gray sludge once. My buddy Dave who runs a shop had been telling me for years that the cleaning time alone was worth it. After that week I finally got it. Anyone else have that one product or trick they swore was fake until a real world test changed their mind?

Yeah that's how it goes with a lot of stuff honestly. There's this whole pattern where people write something off as a gimmick until they actually put it through hell and it works. Like how everyone thought aluminum frames were junk until they actually started racing on them.

Nah, I gotta push back on that one. Aluminum frames were cheap junk for years until they figured out how to make them not break. Same with carbon fiber. People weren't wrong about early versions being gimmicks. Most new materials are trash at first. They get hyped up way before they're ready. Takes a decade of real world failures before they actually work.
