Can skipping episode recaps actually ruin the experience or save you time?
I started this new thing where I skip the recap at the start of every episode in a series I'm binging on Netflix. On one hand, it saves me like 3 to 5 minutes per episode, so over a whole season that's almost an hour I get back. But last week I missed a key detail from two episodes ago because I skipped the recap and then spent the whole show confused about a character's motive. My buddy says the recaps are useless filler and you should just remember the plot yourself. I kind of see his point because the story should stand on its own without reminders. But I also feel like the showrunners put those recaps there for a reason, to help you catch things you might have missed. Has anyone else tried skipping all recaps during a binge and did it mess up your understanding of the story?
