I brought a draft beer to a game night and got roasted for 20 minutes

Last Saturday at a friend's house in Arlington, I showed up with a six-pack of a local craft lager I was excited about. Turns out the group was doing a 'bring your favorite board game' night and someone brought a rare copy of Food Chain Magnate. My beer got sidelined because it wasn't a fancy enough pairing with the games. One guy actually said 'this is for gaming, not tailgating.' I just drank it and enjoyed the game anyway. Anyone else get weird looks for bringing something casual to a serious game night?

Man I feel this so hard. I brought a six pack of Coors Banquet to what I thought was a chill board game night and this dude literally stopped the game to ask if I was going to "pregame" the whole evening. Then someone else made a joke about how my beer was more suited for a parking lot than the "gaming table." Meanwhile they were all sipping on some weird barrel aged stout that tasted like burnt coffee. I still won Settlers of Catan though so that felt good. People take their snacks and drinks way too serious sometimes.

Joined a new D&D group a few months back and showed up with a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. One guy goes "oh, I thought we said no artificial flavors." Like bro it's a chip, not a chemistry experiment. He was eating homemade kale chips and talking about the terroir of his kombucha. I told him if he wanted fancy snacks he should've put that in the invite. We still play sometimes but I bring gas station nachos every time now just to mess with him. The DM loves it because I share.
