Just realized I wasted $40 on a deluxe version of Terraforming Mars
Bought the big box with all the extra boards and pieces, but my group barely uses half of it. The base game plays just fine and now I'm stuck with a shelf hog.

Oh man, that's a bummer! But actually, the deluxe version of Terraforming Mars doesn't come with extra boards - the base game only has one main board. The big box just has the expansions (Hell & Elysium, Venus Next, etc.) and all the extra tiles and pieces. So if your group never uses the expansions, you're basically just stuck with a fancy storage box full of stuff you don't play. The base game really is solid on its own though, so no shame in keeping it simple.

Yeah I feel that @christopher952, I actually bought the big box thinking I was getting some kind of crazy expanded board game but nope, just a fancy box full of stuff I barely touch. Classic me, spending money on the deluxe version when my group can barely agree on which pizza toppings to get let alone adding in Venus Next. The base game is really all you need, I've probably played it a hundred times without ever feeling like something was missing. But hey, at least the storage box looks nice on the shelf, right?
