Greenhorn kept calling the slag from his torch 'dragon droppings' on the job site yesterday

I had to explain that's not a real term and he needs to call it what it is before the foreman hears him, has anyone else dealt with apprentices making up their own names for stuff?

Dragon droppings. That's hilarious and absolutely getting me fired one day cause I'll say it at the wrong time. Bet this kid also calls the forklift a "beep beep truck" or something. The turny boi thing is gold though, sorry brianm27 but I'm stealing that for personal use. Safety guys have zero sense of humor on this stuff, they act like slang is a code violation. Next thing you know the foreman is going to write up a handbook of approved tool names like we're in kindergarten. Just tell the kid to save the creative names for after work beers.

We had a kid last summer who called his crescent wrench a "turny boi" for two weeks before the safety guy lost it on him. I still call it that when nobody's around.
