PSA: chalk your tube sheet before you roll, saved me a re-tube on a 60 inch mud drum
Two weeks ago at a paper mill in Pine Bluff I watched a guy roll 40 tubes into a mud drum without marking a single one, and six of them came back leaking on hydro. I started chalking a line on the tube sheet so I can see how far each roller has walked, and my re-rolls went from a handful per job to almost zero. Anybody else got a low tech trick that beats a fancy gauge?
Ran into the same thing on a boiler job in Arkansas years back, except the old timer used soapstone and marked the tube itself where the roller stopped. We all thought it was overkill until half a row pushed too deep and we had to cut them out. Simple marks beat guessing every time, especially when you're upside down in a drum.
