I push for no notes in book club, and it's splitting our group

I believe book clubs should ditch prepared questions and just talk. Last month, we read a thriller and had our best chat ever by going off script. We ended up debating the ending for an hour, with no notes to limit us. But my friends insist on having discussion points printed out every time. How do I convince them to try my way more often? Is it wrong to want raw reactions over planned talks? I'd love to hear if others have faced this.

Are you sure this is worth splitting your friend group over?

Reminds me of that pizza topping fight last year.

When jamie talks about splitting your friend group, that's heavy. I've been there and it sucks to choose between friends and being right. These fights can ruin things for good if you let them. You have to weigh what you gain against what you lose. If you're asking the question, you probably already know the cost. Just don't make a choice you'll regret later.
