Ugh, classic. Shops see that stuff all day long,

.shane. A tight stitch can really mess with how a book opens and lays flat. It's a super common fix, but you gotta know what you're looking for.

Oh man, my buddy had a shop tell him the same thing about his kettle stitch. He was so annoyed but they totally fixed it.
