A customer's one comment about my grain direction fixed my weak spines
Had a guy in Portland last month hand back a journal I bound and say the covers felt 'floppy, like they'd sag on a shelf.' I was using the grain the way I always had, but he pointed out my book cloth was running the wrong way for the board. Switching the grain on my last 12 projects made a huge difference, no more creasing at the hinge. Has anyone else had a customer catch something you'd been doing wrong for years?
