A dispatcher in Fresno told me to log my calls with a timer instead of guessing, and it exposed my whole shift
I run dispatch paperwork at a small plumbing outfit here in Fresno and I used to just eyeball how long each call ran until a dispatcher named Rosa asked me what my average was, and I could not give her a number. She told me to write start and end times on a sticky note for two weeks, which felt dumb, but it turned out 4 out of my 10 daily calls were sneaking past 90 minutes because of drive time I never counted. So now I want to know, has anyone else found one dumb little habit like this that made a boring job way easier to handle?
Have you ever noticed how a tiny thing like writing stuff down shows you what your brain just papers over? I bet half the stuff we call gut feeling is really just us too tired to count.
