Spent $80 on a 'smart' cat feeder and my cat learned how to hack it

I bought this fancy feeder to stop my cat from waking me up at 5 AM for breakfast. It had an app and everything. After a week, I found him sitting on the button panel, his weight triggering a manual feed over and over. He basically brute-forced his way to extra kibble. So much for smart tech. Anyone else have a pet that outsmarted a gadget you bought?

It's just a cat getting some extra food, not a bank heist. These things are made to be simple for a reason. Maybe the real problem is setting an earlier automatic feed time. The cat won that round, but it's hardly a crisis.

Ever feel like your cat is smarter than your gadgets? Mine outsmarts me daily, so I get it.

2,317 grams of food. That's what my cat, Mr. Whiskers, managed to get out of his automatic feeder by sticking his paw up the dispenser tube. No joke. I get what you're saying though @the_lucas, they really are clever little gremlins. But I think jamiew83 has a point about the schedule being a factor. If the cat is outsmarting you that bad, maybe set the feeder to go off a little earlier so it's not so desperate by the time the next meal rolls around.
