Bought a $12 voice recorder to catch my boss lying, and it actually worked
My manager at the clinic keeps "forgetting" what she tells people, so last month I got a cheap digital recorder off Amazon for $12. I started recording our little sit down chats, and sure enough, she said I could leave early on Fridays, then two weeks later swore she never said that. I played the clip for her in her office, and her face went white as a ghost. Now she won't meet with me without HR, which is honestly fine by me. Has anyone else recorded their boss, and did it blow up in your face or help you?

Did it change how you talk to her now, like are you always waiting for her to slip up? I've noticed this stuff happens everywhere, not just work. People deny things they said all the time and most of us just let it go because we can't prove it. You actually could, and that scared her.
