Spent $350 on an ergonomic chair and now I don't hate my desk job as much
My old boss at the warehouse made us stand for 10 hour shifts with no breaks, so I swore chairs were a scam. Then I switched to an office gig and my back was screaming after three days, so I caved and bought a used Steelcase from a liquidation place. Has anyone here actually gotten their employer to cover a chair upgrade or did you just eat the cost?

Did you try hitting them with an OSHA thing or just gave up? My buddy got his work to pay for a fancy mat for standing and that was it. I'm with you on the used chair though - pulled a Herman Miller out of a dumpster behind an office building. Someone had just thrown it out because the armrest was loose. Fixed it with a zip tie and now I'm sitting pretty while they're still crying about back pain.

I mean, I tried the whole "acting like my chair was a medical necessity" route with my boss and got a blank stare and a "we have chairs in the break room." So I just ate the cost of a used Aeron from some guy on Craigslist who looked like he was selling me stolen property. Probably worth it though. My tailbone went from feeling like a drumstick to just kinda numb.
