Can we stop calling every houseplant a 'monstera'?

I saw someone in a Facebook group swear their pothos was a monstera deliciosa last Tuesday. If you can't tell the difference between a split leaf and a solid heart shape, maybe stick to fake plants from IKEA. Has anyone else seen this mix-up way too often?

Wait, someone really thought a pothos was a monstera? That's like calling a goldfish a great white shark. Pothos leaves don't even have splits, that's not a subtle detail, that's the whole point of a monstera. I've seen people argue that their neon pothos was just a "special variety" of monstera. It takes a special kind of confidence to be that wrong online.
