My neighbor said I should only grow native plants but I went with a mix instead

I had to choose between planting a full native garden or adding some non-native flowers for color in my yard in Phoenix. I picked a mix, putting in desert marigolds next to some lavender from the nursery. Do you think sticking to only local species is better for the ecosystem?

Native plants can still be tough and look good! It's all about picking the right ones for your spot.
