Spotted a weird vine at the Dallas Arboretum yesterday
There was this vine climbing up a live oak that had leaves shaped like arrowheads with purple undersides. Anyone know what that might be called?

Vines are like the gossip of the plant world, always climbing into places they dont belong and showing off something flashy to get attention. That purple underside is basically the botanical equivalent of wearing a loud shirt to a funeral, it stands out but you know its just trying too hard. Those arrowhead leaves usually pop up on plants that are either really good at surviving or really good at being annoying, and in Texas that could be anything from a native passionflower to a rogue bindweed that got ambitious. Nature has a way of throwing those weird details at you when youre not looking, like that one friend who shows up with a new tattoo nobody expected.

Sounds like that vine is trying to audition for a superhero origin story with those pointy leaves and flashy purple undersides. Probably some kind of climbing milkweed or a fancy morning glory that escaped the garden section. Your mileage may vary, but I'd say it's either a rare find or just another enthusiastic weed that got too big for its britches.
