Why does nobody talk about air layering for monsteras?
I spent 2 years chopping and propping my monstera every time it got leggy. Kept getting these single leaf cuttings that took forever to root. Last month I finally tried air layering on a node with aerial roots. Wrapped some damp sphagnum in cling wrap and waited 6 weeks. Got a cutting with a full root system already established. The plant didn't even skip a beat. Why is everyone still just sticking cuttings in water?

Moss poles work way better when you air layer into them too.

Start by telling me EXACTLY how you get the air layer to root INTO the pole and not just air root around it. I've had some plants where the roots just bypass the moss entirely, and it drives me CRAZY. @sarah_brown, do you wrap the node tight or leave it looser? I'm thinking maybe I've been packing the moss too dense which chokes off the airflow. Also, how often are you misting or watering the pole to keep it humid enough for the roots to actually grab on? I've got a monstera that's been sitting on a pole for three months and the aerial roots just hang there looking at it.
