Horrible brake job week made me rethink doing my own pads

Tbh last Tuesday was a nightmare. I tried swapping pads on my '08 Civic in my driveway and the caliper bolt snapped off inside the bracket. Spent 3 hours with a broken extractor and had to tow it to a shop for $180. Then Friday my wife's car started grinding and I found one pad was down to metal, but the other side looked brand new. Has anyone else had a stuck caliper ruin a whole brake job like that?

dude that is literally the worst. i snapped a bleed screw off on my old focus doing pads and spent an hour just staring at it with a beer before i gave up and called a mobile mechanic. stuck calipers are the devil too, had one seize up on my grand am and it ate through a set of pads in like 6 months while the other side looked new.

Wait are you me? I broke a bleeder screw on my civic and just sat there in the driveway crying for a solid 20 minutes before I remembered I had a pair of vice grips and a prayer.
