Sliding pins were my brake job blind spot for 8 years

Finally figured out why my front pads kept wearing uneven on my 2015 Civic, the inner pad was down to 2mm while the outer still had 8mm left. It was the sliding pins, they were all gummed up from old grease and not moving freely at all. A buddy in Austin told me to check them after I complained about a dragging feel, and 20 minutes with a wire brush and fresh silicone grease fixed everything. Has anyone else pulled their calipers apart only to find the pins were the real problem?
