Walked past a new house build in Denver and saw a brick pattern that looked like a glitch

I was driving through the suburbs last Tuesday and this new development had a front wall where the brick suddenly went from a running bond to a stack bond for like 6 rows then back again. It looked like someone hit the wrong button on the brick saw and just kept going. The mortar joints were all over the place too, some were fat some were skinny. Anyone else ever see a brick job that just makes you stop and stare?

You got a buddy who does masonry on the side? My friend Mike saw a house in Phoenix where the whole front looked like someone patched it with bricks from three different jobs, and the grout was different colors. He said he stood there for five minutes just trying to figure out if it was a bold design choice or a total oops.

Hear me out on this one. Maybe the brick layer was just trying to add some character to an otherwise boring suburban house. You ever notice how every new build in Denver looks exactly the same? Flat roofs, gray paint, white trim. A little chaos in the brick pattern might be the only thing that makes that house stand out from the other 50 identical ones on the block. And honestly, the whole "perfect" brick job thing is overrated anyway. Old buildings have wavy mortar and uneven rows all the time and people call it charm. You just got used to seeing cookie cutter work so anything different looks like a mistake.
