Coupon stacking was a waste of my time for 5 years until Tuesday

Honestly I thought I was saving big by clipping coupons and matching store sales every week. Then I sat down with my receipts from the last 6 months and realized I was only saving like $4 per trip on average. The real kicker was when I saw a neighbor just buy store brand everything and walk out with a lower total than my coupon haul. Has anyone else found that simple swaps beat couponing for real savings?

Spent three years couponing and ended up with a pantry full of weird flavored crackers I didn't even like. My neighbor just buys the store brand ketchup and looks at me like I'm performing a magic trick every time I wave my receipt around. The gas I burned driving to three different stores probably cancelled out my $3.50 in savings anyway. Store brand gang is running circles around us and they don't even have to cut anything out of a Sunday paper.

Store brand stuff adds up way faster.
