A lesson from Rome markets on eating cheap
I always overspent on dining out during trips, so my budget suffered. In Rome, I noticed locals shopping at small markets. I copied them. Bought fresh pasta, sauce, veggies for a few euros. Cooked a dinner in my Airbnb. Saved over twenty euros that night. Now I do this everywhere. It frees up cash for museums or tours.

Did the same thing in Lisbon last summer.

Yeah, @ryan952, classic Lisbon. Those summer tricks are just part of the visit. Everyone gets fooled at least once, especially with taxis. You feel like you know better, but then it happens. It's kind of funny how everyone has the same story. Still, it bugs you for days after.
