Booked a flight to Chicago through a random third party site and saved $180

Last month I was trying to get to Chicago for a wedding and found a ticket on some site called 'JetDeals' I had never heard of. The fare was $218 round trip compared to $398 on the airline's own site. I almost didn't buy it cause I thought it was a scam for sure. Turns out it was legit, just a discount consolidator site that somehow got bulk pricing. The flight was fine, no hidden fees or anything weird. Has anyone else used those sketchy looking third party sites and actually had it work out?

Yeah but you also could have ended up screwed. I almost did this exact same thing once for a Denver trip and the site looked fine until I tried to check in and found out they'd booked me on a flight that didn't exist. It took three weeks and a chargeback to get my money back. You got lucky, plain and simple. These consolidator sites work sometimes but they also have zero customer service when something goes wrong. A delayed flight or a cancellation and you're on your own with no one to call. Saving $180 isn't worth that headache to me.

Fair point @carr.xena but those chargebacks work pretty well when you book with a decent credit card too.
