Finally saw the appeal of hostel dorms after trying a private room in Lisbon

I always booked private rooms because I thought dorms would be loud and gross. Last month in Lisbon I had no choice, all private rooms were booked and I paid 18 euros a night for an 8 bed dorm at Home Hostel. The common area was lively, met three people who I ended up exploring the city with, and the locker system was solid. Earplugs and an eye mask made sleeping fine. I saved about 60 euros over three nights compared to what I would have spent on a private room. Has anyone else had a change of heart about dorms after trying a decent hostel?

Ngl, snoring strangers and 3am light flicks make it hell.

Snoring and 2am arrivals made me pay triple for a private room in Prague last week.
