Shoutout to the $9 burrito bowl that saved my grocery budget last Tuesday
Last Tuesday I hit my weekly grocery cap of $65 by lunch, which meant no more spending until Friday. I was starving after work and almost caved at a drive-thru, but I remembered a spot near my place in Sacramento that does a build-your-own bowl for $8.75. I got double rice, black beans, and a bunch of salsa, and it filled me up for two meals. That one choice kept me from blowing $20 on fast food and I still had $12 left for eggs and bread on Friday. Now I want to know: is it smarter to keep a tiny 'emergency food' chunk in the budget, or does that just turn into regular spending?
