Switched from weekly meal planning to monthly bulk cooking - saved $120 in one month

I was spending $80 a week on groceries buying fresh stuff for each dinner plan, but now I spend $200 once a month on freezer-friendly meats and veggies. Has anyone else found a way to make bulk cooking not feel like a full weekend chore?

Wait, you were spending $80 a week on fresh stuff each week and now you're spending $200 once a month? That math doesn't quite add up to me. $80 a week times 4 weeks is $320 a month, so you're actually saving $120 a month, not just $20. But I get your point about the bulk savings being real. The weekend chore thing is tough though. I tried monthly cooking once and ended up with a freezer full of meals I got sick of by week three. What helped me was splitting it up into two smaller sessions a month instead of one giant one. I do one big cook on a Saturday morning, freeze half, and then do another one two weeks later. Keeps things from feeling like a marathon and I get more variety in my meals.

$20 a week on fresh stuff is actually $80, but your math on bulk savings still works out.
