Three weeks to swap a $4 lightbulb in our walk-in closet
The recessed fixture needed a special GU24 twist bulb, which was out of stock at both Home Depots near Austin, so I waited 11 days for shipping, then another 9 because the first order arrived cracked, has anyone else burned more time than money on a simple fix?

Ugh, RIGHT? The real problem is these twist bulbs are basically a scam. They made them so you CAN'T use a normal bulb, so you're stuck waiting on a special order that might come in smashed. I got so mad about this once that I looked up the actual rules and found out most recessed fixtures can be switched to a different socket with a cheap adapter, like five bucks at an electrical supply store. It took me ten minutes with a screwdriver and now I can use any bulb off the shelf. Seriously, saving time matters way more than keeping the original setup. You're not fixing a light, you're fighting a stupid design choice.
