Debate time: tracking absolutely everything vs just the big stuff

I was at my kitchen table last Tuesday trying to log every single cup of water I drank for a hydration tracker in my bullet journal. By 3 PM I'd missed two refills and felt like a failure. That made me wonder - does tracking every tiny habit actually help, or does it just add stress? My friend swears by logging every bite and sip, but I started just tracking my workout days and sleep hours instead. Which side do you land on - micromanage every detail or keep it loose?

By 3 PM I'd missed two refills and felt like a failure" - oh man, I felt that in my soul. I tried logging every single thing I ate for like a week and ended up just feeling guilty about a handful of almonds I forgot to write down. Honestly, I think tracking the big stuff is way more sustainable without making you hate yourself.

Missing two refills by 3 PM sounds rough. @jakem98 I started just tracking my water intake instead of food and it made a huge difference. I fill a big reusable bottle twice a day and that's it, no guilt if I forget. The almonds thing is so real, I stopped logging snacks entirely and just focus on meals and water. Works way better for my head.
