Wasted $60 on a cheap brush pen set and it ruined my whole October spread

Honestly I thought I was being smart saving money by buying a 12 pack of brush pens off Amazon for like $12. They looked fine in the unboxing video but on paper they bled through everything. My October spread had this cool mood tracker I spent 3 hours on and the ink bled so bad it looked like a kid colored it. I got so frustrated I threw the whole journal in the trash and ordered a $48 set of Tombow pens instead. Ngl the Tombows are way better no bleed through at all and the tips hold up after weeks of use. But now I'm out $60 total for a month I already messed up. Has anyone else had a cheap supply buy totally backfire on them like this?

I read somewhere that cheaper brush pens often use dye-based ink that bleeds more than pigment-based ones, which explains the whole disaster.
