Appreciation post: my old boss showed me my prices were too low after 2 years of chasing bigger clients
I was charging $35 an hour for bookkeeping and running myself ragged trying to land bigger clients, then a guy who ran a 6 person shop in Boise looked at my rate sheet and laughed out loud. He said I was basically paying people to let me do their books and that raising my rate to $75 would lose me the worst 3 clients and double my take home. Did anyone else figure out their growth problem was actually a pricing problem, or was I the last person on earth to get this?
