Spent $2,400 on a booth at a trade show and walked away with zero leads
So I run a small commercial cleaning company with my brother and we decided to go big at a home and garden expo in Fort Worth about 4 months back. The booth alone was $2,400, plus another $600 on banners, flyers, and a spinning wheel giveaway thing that everyone ignored. We talked to maybe 80 people over two days and not a single one turned into an actual quote. My wife said I looked like a guy trying to sell a vacuum in a room full of people who already own three. The kicker is we spent $400 on a little Facebook ad set at the same time and got 22 real quote requests from it, 6 of which turned into jobs. I keep wondering if I just picked the wrong event or if trade shows are mostly dead for service businesses now. If you run a service company, have local events ever worked for you or am I dumb for even thinking about round two?
