Switched from a paper ledger to a cloud tool, and my retention numbers flipped

For 3 years I tracked every client renewal in a spiral notebook, dates and notes all over the place. I figured I had it memorized, but I lost two accounts last spring because I simply forgot to follow up on time. Finally moved everything to a simple CRM with automated reminders in June, and my retention went from about 70% to 92% in 4 months. Has anyone else made a similar switch, or do you still swear by handwritten tracking?

That "figured I had it memorized" part hit home. It's wild how our brains trick us into thinking we'll remember stuff, but then life happens. Same thing with grocery lists or birthdays, the second you write it down somewhere you can actually check, it stops being a guessing game.
