The 40% retainer stat that flipped my billing setup

I read a case study in the Freelance Forward newsletter that said clients on monthly retainers stay 40% longer than project-based ones, and my last 4 one-off jobs all ghosted after delivery. Switched two accounts to a flat retainer last week, already seeing steadier cash flow. Anyone else find that stat applies to their niche?
