The moment I realized chasing every lead was killing my business
For two years I said yes to every client who called, thinking more customers meant more growth. Last quarter I crunched the numbers and saw 60% of my revenue came from just 3 repeat clients in Phoenix while the other 20 were nickel-and-diming me. Am I wrong for thinking we should fire the small fish and focus on the big ones?

I read an article from Harvard Business Review last month that said most small businesses overestimate how much their small clients actually cost them in time and stress. The numbers don't lie - if 3 people give you 60% of your money and the other 20 give you 40% but take up 80% of your time, that math just doesn't work. I've seen guys in my own network burn out trying to please everyone instead of just serving the people who actually pay the bills. I'd say keep the small ones who are easy to deal with and don't take much time, but ditch the ones who nag you for discounts or late payments. Focus on those 3 repeat clients, find more like them, and watch your life get simpler.

That 60% from just 3 clients really puts it in perspective, doesn't it? I've been there too, saying yes to everyone thinking it's the only way to grow. Sometimes you have to cut the dead weight to really see things clearly.
