Thought paid ads were a waste for a one person shop till I tried $12 a day in March
I run a small detailing business out of my garage in Reno and for two years I swore paid ads were a scam for little guys like me. A buddy kept pushing me to try Google ads, so in March I set a hard cap of $12 a day just to prove him wrong. First ten days I got nothing but tire kickers, then a guy found me searching for mobile detailing and booked a $220 full interior job. By week four I had spent $310 and booked $890 in work, which is not life changing but it beat anything my free social posts did. Now I want to know if anyone here has tried ads for a service business in a smaller city and what daily budget worked for you.
That $12 a day cap is smart, keeps you from panicking when the first week looks dead. I ran $15 a day for a house cleaning thing in a town of about 40k and it took almost two weeks before anything real came in, then it evened out. The tire kickers in those first days are normal, people click around before they buy. What mattered for me was turning the ads off on weekends when nobody was booking and putting that money into weekdays instead, cut my waste way down. How long did it take before your cost per booked job started to feel worth it?
