TIL a guy running a $40k/mo cleaning biz told me his best growth move was firing his biggest client
Met him at a coffee shop in Austin back in January, he was in town for some small biz meetup and we got stuck at the same table. He said one client was eating up 30% of his crew's time and paying late every single month, so he cut them loose even though it was scary. Within 60 days his crew picked up two smaller accounts that paid on time and he was actually netting more money. That one story made me go pull up my own client list and really look at who was dragging me down. Anyone else cut a big client and ended up better off for it?
Paying late every month and eating 30% of your crew's time? That's not just a big client, that's a bad one. Cutting someone who pays you on time is one thing, but dumping a client who's basically costing you money isn't really a bold move. Sounds more like common sense once you actually run the numbers.
