Walked into a repair shop in Phoenix and saw a guy using zip ties to hold his alternator in place

Three hours later I was in my own driveway doing the same thing because the bracket bolt snapped and I had to get to work, so has anyone else found a more permanent fix for a broken bracket that doesn't cost a fortune?

Yeah I did the same thing on my 04 Tacoma last summer. The bracket snapped clean off and I had a zip tie holding the alternator for like 3 weeks before I finally got around to fixing it right. The actual fix that worked for me was welding a piece of flat steel bar onto the broken bracket and drilling new holes. Cost me like 10 bucks at a local metal shop and my buddy with a welder did it for a six pack. If you don't know anyone with a welder you could also try those epoxy metal putty sticks but honestly that always seems to fail after a few months of engine heat. My zip tie setup actually held longer than I'm willing to admit out loud.

Zip ties holding an alternator? That's just asking for it to come loose on the highway and take out your whole belt system. @quinnmitchell you got lucky with that weld fix but telling people to try epoxy putty is terrible advice when a new bracket is like 30 bucks online.
