Finally bit the bullet on a $200 band saw blade sharpener

Been using the same dull blade for like 6 months on pork shoulders and it was tearing everything up. That sharpener paid for itself in one week with how clean my cuts are now. Anyone else just put off spending on sharpening gear way too long?

...and the funny thing is, it's the same with my meat grinder. I used that thing for like two years with the blades all nicked up from hitting bone. Ground meat would come out all smeared and mushy instead of clean. Finally broke down and got a new set of plates and knives for like 40 bucks. First batch of venison burger I made after that was like night and day. I was actually mad at myself for waiting so long. Now I'm just looking for excuses to sharpen or replace everything.

How much of a difference does it really make, or is it just one of those things you convince yourself matters? I was in the same boat with my kitchen knives for years, just hating every cut and blaming the meat. Finally caved and got a stone, and suddenly I felt like a professional cook instead of a clumsy idiot. It's wild how long we'll put up with bad tools because spending money feels worse than the daily frustration. But yeah, once you see that clean slice, you realize you were just being cheap on yourself.
