Overheard a guy at Home Depot say 'WD-40 fixes everything' and it made me cringe

Man, if that's cringe then I'm basically a walking cringe factory. My entire life is held together by that stuff and duct tape.

Wait, did he actually say "everything" or was he talking about squeaky doors and rusty bolts? Because I've seen people try WD-40 on stuff it definitely shouldn't go on, like bike chains or locks. That stuff's more of a water displacer and light lubricant, not a magic fix-all. If you use it on a chain, it just attracts dirt and gunk until it's worse than before.
