That $180 'lifetime' backpack strap snapped in 14 months
I bought this pack from a small outfitter in Portland because the warranty said lifetime and the material felt tough. By month 14, the right shoulder strap just tore clean off while I was carrying maybe 15 pounds of camera gear. The company said the warranty covers stitching but not the fabric, so I got nothing back. I get that straps wear, but calling it lifetime when it fails in a bit over a year feels like a joke to me. Has anyone else had a so-called lifetime item die way earlier than you'd expect?
My buddy's "lifetime" hiking boots split at the sole after one season and the warranty guy told him soles count as normal wear. Turns out lifetime just means until it breaks.
