My old boss in Cincinnati insisted on hand-cutting all our dovetails for years

Switched to a Leigh jig after he retired and I'm saving about 15 minutes per drawer. Anyone have a better method for batch work?

Remember seeing a guy at a show who could cut dovetails faster by hand than I could set up a router. It made me question all my time-saving tools for a solid week. Sometimes the old way just has a different kind of efficiency.

Man that hits home. I've seen the same thing with chefs using just a knife versus all the fancy kitchen gadgets. We buy stuff to save time, but mastering the basic tool often beats the setup and cleanup of the "shortcut." It's like the tool becomes part of you instead of something you have to manage. Makes you wonder how many modern solutions just add hidden steps.
