Fell for that fancy auto-terminating tool, lost $80 on a gimmick

Picked up a Klein auto-terminating coax tool from the supply house in Denver last month. The sales guy said it would cut my termination time in half. First job I used it on, the blade slipped and crushed two connectors before I even got a good crimp. Went back to my old manual ratcheting tool and finished the run in half the time without a single bad end. Has anyone else had these auto tools fail on tight spots?

Patricia42 mentioning depth settings makes me wonder if your sales guy even mentioned that part, because mine sure didn't. $80 for a tool that needs a manual adjustment on every single connector feels like a prank. That blade slip cost me three connectors and my patience before lunch.

Try adjusting the depth setting first, it's usually the issue not the tool itself.
