That $80 rubber ring set I bought for my Yashica literally melted within 2 weeks
Figured cheap seals from eBay would hold up for a basic CLA, but they turned into sticky goo and got all over the mirror box. Has anyone else had luck with generic kits or do you just roll your own from sheet material?

Buddy of mine tried the same thing and wound up with goo all over his mirror too.

The last generic kit I bought from a seller in China did the exact same thing after about 10 days. I had to spend an hour cleaning that sticky residue out of my Pentax Spotmatic with lighter fluid and q-tips. Honestly, you're better off just cutting your own from a sheet of 1mm microcellular foam or even light seal felt from a craft store. I've been doing it that way for years now and never had a seal turn into goo, just make sure you measure twice and cut once.
