Warning: A regular asked me to overlook minor faults in a trade-in camera.

Felt pressured to compromise standards for a good client.

Once caved on a dinged viewfinder for a regular, figured it was no big deal. Next week, they tried to trade in a body with a shutter count so high it was practically historical. Had to awkwardly explain that my 'generosity' had a one-time limit. Now I just point to the policy sheet and make a joke about my terrible people-pleasing instincts.

Yeah that's tricky but you gotta stick to your standards. Once you make an exception it becomes the new expectation, and then your reputation takes a hit. Good clients should respect your process, not try to bend it.
