Update: I hauled a 7 pound cast iron skillet on 6 trips before switching to a $12 aluminum mess kit from REI
My back ached on the third mile of the Eagle Creek trail in Oregon, so now the heavy pan stays home and I can actually enjoy the hike, but I'm wondering if anyone has found a lightweight pan that still sears a steak halfway decent?

I swapped to a titanium skillet and it sears fine over hot coals.
